NEWARK – Newark Reps. John Kowalko and Paul Baumbach will hold a joint town hall meeting next week for Newark residents to gather public commentary and opinions regarding a proposed data center and power plant in town.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Newark High School auditorium. West Chester-based The Data Centers LLC has proposed building a 900,000-square-foot structure to house computer servers and offices with an accompanying 248-megawatt generating power plant on the Star Campus site of the University of Delaware, formerly the Chrysler auto plant.

Reps. Kowalko and Baumbach said that they both have been approached by constituents about the project and want to offer a forum for Newark residents to express their thoughts. Speakers at the town hall will be limited to two minutes each. Comments will be shared with all stakeholders to better convey the opinions of the Newark community.
