Dear Neighbor,

I hope this email finds you and your family well. I think we can all agree to celebrate the end of winter and I know we’re all equally anxious for spring to arrive! The snowy weather over the past few months has created issues you may be encountering in your neighborhood and on your daily commute—pot holes seem to be everywhere. Please see the information provided below for reporting them to DelDOT.

This newsletter also includes information on DelDOT’s Snow Removal Reimbursement Program, as well as other timely information. Additionally, if you have not done so already, I encourage you to check out my facebook page and website. These are both great avenues for reporting issues to my office or to share your opinion on subjects we are working on in Dover.

Free tax filing services available

I want to encourage everyone to take advantage of free federal tax preparation services available through the Free File program. Every taxpayer with a 2013 Adjusted Gross Income of $58,000 or less may visit to prepare, complete and e-file their federal tax returns at no cost.

Free File is made possible through a partnership between the IRS and the Free File Alliance, a coalition of industry-leading tax software companies. Since its inception in 2003, the program has offered 70 percent of taxpayers free access to leading commercial tax preparation software from Free File Alliance member companies.

Users may either choose the company that fits their needs or utilize the "Help me Find Free File Software" tool. After selecting a company, users will be transferred to the company's website to prepare, complete and electronically file their federal income tax returns. The service is also available in Spanish.

Free File also offers basic federal e-filing services with no income limitations. These basic e-filing services, called Free File Fillable Forms, allow taxpayers who are familiar with tax law and do not need preparation assistance to complete and file their federal income tax electronically. This e-filing service is also available at

Civic Association Snow Removal Reimbursement Program

Each year DelDOT partners with civic associations and assists with the costs of removing snow throughout the winter months. If your civic association is not enrolled in this program I encourage you to follow the link below.

The Snow Removal Reimbursement Program reimburses civic associations for a portion of the cost of snow removal performed by private companies for snow events with accumulation of 4 inches or more. After the storm, the civic associations submit to DelDOT a request for reimbursement and DelDOT will then reimburse up to 75% of the cost.

For more information about registering your civic association and required forms visit the Snow Removal Reimbursement Program FAQ’s.
