Rep. Potter's December Newsletter

Dear Neighbor,

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to you and your family! It is a pleasure for me to serve as State Representative from the 1st District.

Rep. Potter with Peg Tigue, President of the Superfine Lane Civic Association.

Constituent service is a top priority for me and I’m happy to attend the many civic association meetings throughout our district. I'm also glad to have the support of my legislative assistant, Rylene Harper, who helps me to address any issues and concerns you may have. Rylene can be contacted by phone in Wilmington at 302-577-5312, or via email at rylene.harper@state.de.us.

Rep. Potter with Bernice Thomas and Dwana Bias.

During the first half of the 147th General Assembly, I voted on many bills and resolutions, and attended numerous committee meetings. One of my main legislative responsibilities is to serve as Chairman of the House Gaming and Pari-Mutuels committee. I also serve as a member of the House Education, Judiciary and Health committees. Additionally, House Speaker Pete Schwartzkopf appointed me to the Lottery and Gaming Study Commission to review revenue policies and other issues affecting Delaware’s three casinos.

Rep. Potter with Rep. Stephanie T. Bolden and representatives from Westside Health Center discussing the Affordable Care Act.

Along with the other members of the Wilmington Delegation, I fought to bring necessary resources to our city for the Wilmington PAL Center, the 1212 Corporation and nearly every civic association in the district.

As many of you already know, throughout the past 13 years I’ve had a weekly open door breakfast meeting each Wednesday morning so that I can hear my constituents concerns and ideal directly. Please feel free to stop in and join me at Evelyn’s Soul Food Restaurant, located at 1409 N. King Street.

You can also get updates from me on what is happening in our community from my Facebook page,  Charles Potter, Jr. State Representative, and my TV show, “Straight Talk With Charles Potter Jr.,” which is featured on Comcast Cable Channel 28 on the second and fourth Sunday of each month, from 3 to 4 p.m.

Our district is a busy and active one – from neighborhood cleanouts, cookouts, feeding the homeless and marching in the streets for safety in our community. Once again, thank you for putting your trust in me and allowing me to be Your Voice in Dover. I look forward to working with you to make Delaware better in 2014.

Best regards,

Charles Potter, Jr.
State Representative, 1st District
