Rep. Stephanie T. Bolden's January E-Newsletter

Dear Neighbor,

I hope you've stayed warm and cozy during this frigid, snowy January we've had!

The General Assembly is back in session and things are heating up in Dover. Last week the House of Representatives hosted Gov. Jack Markell for his annual State of the State Address, and this week I'm very hopeful that the Legislature will pass a bill increasing Delaware's minimum wage to $8.25 per hour. This increase will provide badly needed help to those in our community who are struggling to make ends meet.

This month's newsletter contains some important reminders about upcoming events in the 2nd District, as well as information about a college scholarship program.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns about things happening in Dover or here in our community, please don't hesitate to call.

Best,

Stephanie T. Bolden
State Representative
2nd District

Blanket Drive a Success

On the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday Jan. 15, I enlisted the help of Wilmington Councilwoman Hanifa Shabazz, Connections Community Support Programs, St. Joseph's Ladies of St. Peter Claver, the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and many others to collect and donate more than 100 blankets to the Sunday Breakfast Mission, which provides a shelter for the homeless. Mission president Rev. Thomas Laymon said the blankets would be put to use immediately.
