 Wilmington Education Improvement Commission Update

Recently, the House Education Committee voted to release the Wilmington Education Improvement Commission's plan that supports proposed changes to school district boundaries for the Christina and Red Clay School Districts. HA 1, introduced and passed in committee, clarifies that HJR 12 is not intended to commit the General Assembly to any action or agreement beyond confirmation of the State Board of Education's approval of redistricting. As the prime sponsor of HJR 12, I am thankful for all who came and spoke in support of the resolution, and I look forward to continuing this important discussion in the near future.

Port of Wilmington Expansion Task Force Meeting

Rep. Charles Potter, Jr. and Sen. Margaret Rose Henry at a task force meeting.

The Port of Wilmington Expansion Task Force voted to move forward with the RiverEdge Container Terminal Project last week while also giving their support to many other projects that will be beneficial to the port in Delaware.

The Port of Wilmington Expansion Task Force meeting at the Carvel State Building.

The Task Force, chaired by Sen. Margaret Rose Henry and me, met for the final time to discuss issues surrounding the possible growth operations, job opportunities, and economic development for the port and the area.

Following presentations outlining the Master Strategic Plan and RiverEdge Container Terminal Project, the task force and members of the public highlighted the importance of increasing capacity of the port and ensuring that Delaware remains competitive in the region. The final report was presented to Governor Jack Markell and the General Assembly yesterday. View the Full Report by visiting the General Assembly website here
