Dear Neighbor,

I hope you had a wonderful summer! The days are getting shorter, but the weather is terrific and there's plenty to get out and enjoy in our community.

Below I've listed a few great events coming up that I hope you'll find interesting, including the second-annual River Towns festival in New Castle and Delaware City. Last year's festival was a great success and it really let our community shine.

Also, I've included a detour schedule for the Route 9 railroad crossing project, which begins Saturday.

As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office with any questions or concerns you may have about anything happening in the 15th District or our state at large.

River Towns Ride & Festival

The second annual River Towns Ride & Festival is a one-day joint festival held between the two historic Delaware waterfront towns of New Castle and Delaware City. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, from noon to 5 p.m.

The two towns are 10 miles apart and connected by the bike-friendly corridor of Route 9. The event will feature a bicycling component that will have riders cycling between the two destinations. Competitive cyclists will be encouraged to participate in the River Towns Time Trial for cash and prizes while recreational cyclists can pick their distance and ride for fun or to earn a distance medal.

While cyclists traverse between the two towns, festivals will be held in each town’s main square: The Green in New Castle and Battery Park in Delaware City.

Activities include live music, rides, attractions, games, tours, vendors, food and drink. More than a dozen craft breweries will participate in a craft beer festival held in each town.
