Dear Neighbor,

Winter is on its way out and Spring is in the air. I hope you'll be able to get outside soon, if you haven't already, and enjoy some of Delaware's beautiful state parks, trails and natural areas.

This month I wanted to pass along a few information items you may find interesting, including the upcoming Hawaiian luau at the Newark Senior Center, a new scholarship from Delaware's Workforce Development Board, and an I-495 traffic notice from DelDOT that represents the completion of work on the bridge that was damaged last summer.

Finally, my monthly First Friday on March 6 was postponed due to snow, so I'll be at the Newark Senior Center center on Friday, March 13 from 9 -10 a.m. to discuss any pending issues you may have. My next First Friday meeting will be held on Friday, April 3 from 9-10 a.m. at the senior center.

I-495 Traffic Update

The Delaware Department of Transportation advises motorists that at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 19 until 5 a.m. Friday, March 20 (pending weather) the left and center lanes will be closed on I-495 northbound between Exit 2/Terminal Avenue and Exit 3/12th Street in Wilmington. At all times, one lane will remain open on I-495 northbound.

During the same time frame, the left lane will be closed on I-495 southbound between Exit 2/Terminal Avenue and Exit 3/12th Street in Wilmington.

The contractor will be removing six temporary steel girders, which will require northbound and southbound lane closures on I-495.

In the event of inclement weather, the work will be rescheduled for Monday, March 23 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.

First Friday

My First Friday on March 6 was postponed due to snow and has been rescheduled for Friday, March 13 from 9-10 a.m. at the Newark Senior Center.

My next regularly schedueld First Friday event is on Friday, April 3 from 9-10 a.m. at the Newark Senior Center. This is a great opportunity for us to talk about the issues facing the 24th district. Hope to see you there!
