Federal grant will pay to test backlogged rape kits, fits with recent Delaware legislation

Great news in helping to eliminate the backlog of unexamined rape kits in Delaware. The First State will receive $1.2 million from the federal government to test rape kits.

The issue of untested rape kits was part of a series of bills the General Assembly took up this year to address issues affecting Delaware women. Rep. Debra Heffernan and Sen. Nicole Poore sponsored a law requiring law enforcement to conduct an audit of unexamined rape kits.
