Rail Safety Community Meeting Rescheduled

DELAWARE CITY – A community meeting about crude-oil traveling by rail to PBF Refinery has been rescheduled to next week.

The meeting, scheduled for March 3 at Delaware City Fire Hall, has been rescheduled to March 10 at 6 p.m. at the fire hall.

House Majority Leader Rep. Valerie Longhurst decided to hold this informational community meeting due to concerns area residents have raised in recent months about emergency preparations in case of an accident involving refinery-bound railcars. The meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, March 10 at the Delaware City Fire Hall, will include a panel of experts to answer questions and brief the public on emergency plans and safeguards. The panel will include representatives from the Delaware Emergency Management Agency, the State Emergency Response Commission, Norfolk Southern, PBF Refinery, DelDOT, DNREC, law enforcement, fire chiefs and first responders.
