Trey Paradee

State Representative, 29th District

Rep. W. Charles “Trey” Paradee is a member of the Delaware House of Representatives for the 29th District, which includes the town of Cheswold, parts of Clayton and Smyrna, and areas west of Dover and Wyoming. Trey’s family first settled in Delaware in the mid-1600s, and he is the 7th member of the Paradee family to serve in the Delaware General Assembly. He is chair of the Telecommunications, Internet & Technology Committee and vice-chair of the Energy Committee. He is also a member of the Agriculture; Economic Development, Banking, Insurance & Commerce; Natural Resources; Judiciary; and Veteran Affairs committees.

Trey was raised south of Dover, near Moore’s Lake. In his youth, he was active in sports and the Boy Scouts, and, at the age of 15, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. After high school, Trey attended the University of Delaware and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English with a Concentration in Business and Technical Writing in 1991. During his senior year at the University, Trey worked for the Delaware Arthritis Foundation and worked briefly for the Foundation following graduation. Trey returned to Dover in 1991 to work for his father’s company, Paradee Gas Co., Inc. Trey’s early career at Paradee Gas Co. included many long hours of driving trucks, digging ditches, and pulling wrenches.

In 1995, Trey began attending evening classes at the University of Delaware and graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 1998. His studies focused on matters of finance. In the late 1990s, Trey became involved in a number of community and charitable organizations, serving on local boards of the Boy Scouts of America and the Heart Association, as well as the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce.

In 2001, Trey was recruited by Merrill Lynch to work as a financial advisor. In 2003, Trey joined Edward Jones Investments and opened an investment and financial planning office in downtown Dover. In 2011, Trey opened his own investment and financial planning firm, Paradee Financial, LLC, which is also located in Dover. Trey’s firm provides investment and financial services for individuals and small businesses and helps families invest for college and retirement. Trey currently serves as a Special Trustee on the Delaware Technical and Community College Educational Foundation Investment Advisory Committee and Development Council.

Trey lives west of Dover with his two children, Cassie and Charlie, and their dog, Belle.
